Can a person who have poor impulse control could be at risk for social isolation/withdrawal in the future?

Yes. It depends on how other people react to the poor impulse control. For instance, if this individual has a problem controlling his/her anger, and lashes out verbally and physically at others, then other people are going to avoid him/her. This could lead to the individual feeling that he/she is alone and isolated, without friends.

Another possibility is if the person has trouble controlling themselves sexually, and engages in a lot of one-night stands. This person may then feel used, and conclude that all men/women are only after one thing.

Generally, here's how it could play out: 1. The person with poor impulse control does something socially unacceptable. 2. Other people react negatively to this person, perhaps avoiding them. 3. The person reacts to other's negative reaction, forming a negative self-image (';Nobody likes me';) and withdraws socially. Can a person who have poor impulse control could be at risk for social isolation/withdrawal in the future?
Absolutely. Actions taken while ';in a mood'; makes me feel like an idiot, even though I'm not. Now, at 43 - I'm personable, but happy in my own little world. This way no one can judge me and I feel good. Not right, but it is a great way to not face the idiots out there who think I am somewhat strange. I say I don't really care, but I do.
