Birth Control for people with blood clot risks.?

My new girlfriend and I are exploring birth control options, however she is at risk for blood clots. Most of the birth control out there says they are not for people with risk of clots. Does anyone know if there is a birth control out there that is safe for her?Birth Control for people with blood clot risks.?
Lemme guess, you want your willy to feel everything even if you have to risk your girlfriend's life, right? Birth control IS NOT FOR WOMEN WHO ARE AT RISK FOR BLOOD CLOTS! It is just plain dangerous. It can KILL her. You're gonna have to use condoms or she's gonna have to use a diaphragm. But if she's your NEW girlfriend, you should both get tested for HIV and wait at least 6 months before you go in raw then get tested again.Birth Control for people with blood clot risks.?
I got a clot from the last birth control I tried. Nothing life threatening, it was caught in time but now I'm in this category too. I was told I had three options; condoms, IUD, or diaphragm. This was a few years ago though. If she has had a child then she can use the non-hormonal IUD. Tell her to speak with her doctor as they may have more options now. There are tons of brand names out there and more are added yearly.
That's something she'll really need to talk to a doctor about to determine her individual risk. Good luck, always use condoms LOL ;)
I too am at risk for clotting and my doctor recommended Mirena. It's an IUD.

Something that does not involve hormones like IUD or a diaphragm.
Yes, condoms!

Yaz birth control? Pros, cons, risks, your experience?

Just wanting to get opinions from people who have taken Yaz birth control pill - the 24 day active, 4 inactive cycle. I'm looking for any good, bad, anything at all. Did it make you gain/lose weight? Make you moody? Stop your cramps? Did it really shorten your period? Was your period lighter? Any input is welcome!Yaz birth control? Pros, cons, risks, your experience?

dont use them use natural family planning you can end up seriously harming yourself there have been many studys and results are not good
Very good.

-Lighter period

-Almost no cramps

-No weight gain

-No mood swings

The actual length of the cycle is controlled by when you stop taking the non active pills and start with the active ones again.

Risks of starting birth control before period?

What are the risks of starting birth control before my period starts, almost another 2 weeks i think. I will wait until I get it, I am just curious of what will happen If I took it say tomorrow?

Yasmin, birth controlRisks of starting birth control before period?
For most women it would either delay your period for a few days up to the next time for your period, or it would cause break through bleeding and really get your whole cycle messed up. Thats why they say start your first pack right after your period and always take a pill without skipping or missing.

Im getting married soon and i wanted to know birth control options, risks and advice on what works... help?

Im getting married in 2 months. I been trying to decided over birth control options. I dont want to have kids for another 8-10 years. We might decided to not have any at all. I dont want to use the pill. (I dont like that it messes up the body) any herbs or tricks (if there are any, would be helpful). I will never abort my baby and if i did get pregnant then we would definitly accept our responsibilty. My fiance is really wonderful about this so anything you got we can take! THANKS!!!Im getting married soon and i wanted to know birth control options, risks and advice on what works... help?
I've been on low hormone BC pills for almost 7 years and have had no negative effects. Since no married couple likes to use condoms regularly, I'd say your choices are mostly limited to BC pills/patch/ring or an IUD. I mean, you could ask your husband to be to get a vasectomy, but you said you may want to have kids some day.Im getting married soon and i wanted to know birth control options, risks and advice on what works... help?
I would speak to your doctor about it cause their are so many methods out there and some have neg affects on you and some don't. I hear good things about the depo shot, the patch looks like a band aide on you, and then there is the old back up the pill and a condom. But it all depends on how your body does on what you get that will make you happy. I would really look into the shot.

  • Ok..im 13 yrs old and my mom wants to put me on birth control..what are the risks of this?

    uhmm ok..are there any risks for being on birth control at 13?Ok..im 13 yrs old and my mom wants to put me on birth control..what are the risks of this?
    Some risk of blood clots, but at your age, that shouldn't be a big deal unless you smoke. Also, you might gain 5 or so pounds, but that usually levels out after a few months. Your doctor can explain more of the risks and benefits.Ok..im 13 yrs old and my mom wants to put me on birth control..what are the risks of this?
    As long as you have started your period, there are no risks that I know of. If you are worried, ask your doctor (you have to have a prescription for most birth control). I was put on pills at a young age to straighten out my periods and had no ill effects from it (that was 20 years ago).
    there are no real risk involved
    First of all, what is the reason for your mum wanting to put you on birth control? Skin problems, irregular periods, contraception? Either way you should think about what you want........ nobody should make you take something that you dont want to. I would speak to my doctor about side effects...being on the pill can cause high blood pressure among other things. I would read up on this and then discuss the dosage with your doctor as there are many different types.

    Abortion as a Birth Control Method....Any Risks?

    I get my girlfriend pregnant about every few months and we usually go over to the abortion clinic and get it sucked out. this has been going on for about 7 years and it is getting costly to say the least. we practice the Rythm Method quite effectively but sometimes it goes wrong...it is always her fault....is there any long term risk involved with this for her, but more importantly for ME?!Abortion as a Birth Control Method....Any Risks?
    dude way to be heartlessAbortion as a Birth Control Method....Any Risks?
    honey...im not going to go crazy on you and say abortion is murder, because im pro choice. But this is a bad question to ask. That is a very bad form of birth control...you cant keep doing that.....there will be some serious medical risks. There already are. just use protection...
    its called a CONDOM!!!! they are freaking $3... little bit less of a dent in the wallet you f'n moron!!! IT IS NOT ALWAYS HER FAULT YOU MORON!! IT TAKES TWO TO MAKE A BABY!! see back in elementary school you have this class called Sex Ed. where they explain how to make a baby and what happens right? well if you remember back to those days it takes sperm (male) and an egg (female) to make a kid... therefore it is not her fault ALWAYS... GROW UP!!!
    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Every few months??? Even though I believe ABORTION is murder, it is her body and her choice. If she doesn't care what is going on with her body and she goes through with it, then she deserves the after effects...
    Yeah, you're not even funny. Get a life- Frequent abortions can cause infertility for the woman. As for you, it is obvious that you're an idiot
    ABORTION!?!? you should be ashamed!! especially if you know she is getting prego each time! use god damn protection!
    IF I WAS YOUR GF I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE KILLED YOU...SERIOUSLY!!! YOU SOUND LIKE A WORTHLESS SELFISH BASTARD WHO BELONGS IN JAIL....TALKING LIKE THAT'; ITS HER FAULT!';

    MEN LIKE YOU MAKE ME SICK!!
    Your such an idiot -.-
    Are you serious? I think you might be lying. You know abortion is murder right?
    this isnt even funny.
    This is a con. Don't fall for it.
    you're a ******* asshole...why didn't your mother suck YOU out with a vacuum?
    wtf is your problem
    Abortion is NOT a birth control method. The rhythm method IS NOT either. You and your girlfriend should stop this behaviour- i dont believe you're tellin the truth anyway, you would have been investigated by now if it was the truth (unless you're in some backward country that believes thats ok...). Women who have multiple abortions face a much greater risk of experiencing the following complications.

    Uterine Perforation

    Between 2 and 3% of all abortion patients may suffer perforation of the uterus. The risk is increased for women who have previously given birth and for those who receive general anesthesia at the time of abortion.

    Bladder Injury

    This can cause peritonitis (an inflamed, infected lining of the abdomen), with all its pain, dangers and necessary reparative surgery.

    Bowel Injury

    This will cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, blood in stool, peritonitis, and death if not treated quickly enough. A portion of the intestine may have been taken out, and a temporary or permanent colostomy may be put in your abdomen.

    This can cause peritonitis (an inflamed, infected lining of the abdomen), with all its pain, dangers and necessary reparative surgery.

    Ectopic (Tubal) Pregnancy

    An ectopic pregnancy is any pregnancy that occurs outside the uterus. After an abortion you are 8 to 20 times more likely to have an ectopic pregnancy. If not discovered soon enough, an ectopic pregnancy ruptures, and you can bleed to death without emergency surgery. Statistics show a 30% increased risk of ectopic pregnancy after one abortion and a 160% increased risk after two or more abortions. There had been a threefold increase in ectopic pregnancies in the U.S. in the decade immediately following legalizing abortion (1970-1980).

    Effects on Future Pregnancies:

    If you have an abortion, You will be more likely to bleed in the first three months of future pregnancies.

    You will need more manual removal of placenta more often and there will be more complications with expelling the baby and the placenta.

    Your next baby will be twice as likely to die in the first few months of life.

    Your next baby will be 3 to 4 times as likely to die in the last months of his first year of life.

    Your next baby is more likely to be born prematurely or with a low birth weight with all the dangerous and costly problems that entails.

    Failed Abortion

    Sometimes an abortionist fails to evacuate the placenta, parts of the baby, umbilical cord or amniotic sac from the mother’s body causing pain, bleeding or a low-grade fever. Besides antibiotics and possible hospitalization, you may require additional surgery to remove these remaining pieces. Failure to successfully abort the unborn younger than 6 weeks is relatively common.

    Hemorrhage

    One to fourteen percent of women require a blood transfusion due to bleeding from an abortion.

    Infection

    Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)

    PID is a potentially life threatening disease which can lead to an increase risk of ectopic pregnancy and reduced fertility.Of the 20-27% of abortion patients who have a chlamydia infection at the time of the abortion, 23% of them will develop PID within 4 weeks compared to the 5% of patients not infected with chlamydia.

    Laceration of the Cervix

    About 5% of women suffer this during an abortion.This causes you to have nearly a 50/50 chance of miscarrying in your next pregnancy if it is not treated properly during that pregnancy.

    More Miscarriages Later

    Women who have had two or more abortions have twice as many first trimester miscarriages in later pregnancies. There is a tenfold increase in the number of second trimester miscarriages in pregnancies that follow an abortion.

    Placenta Previa.

    Severe, Rapid Bleeding

    Sterility

    After an abortion you may become sterile. This happens in 2-5% of women. The risk of secondary infertility among women with at least one induced abortion is 3-4 times greater than among women who have not aborted.

    Unrecognized Ectopic Pregnancy

    Death

    The best record based study of death following pregnancy and abortion found that women who abort are approximately 4 times more likely to die in the following year than women who carry their pregnancies to term.

    Breast Cancer Risks Increase

    Since the legalization of abortion, breast cancer rates have doubled, and continue to climb.

    More Deadly Breast Cancer

    Not really worth being so complacent is it? Go to the sexual health clinic/doctor with your girlfriend and put a proper contraceptive plan in place such as the pill and condoms. Im not going to get on the topic of you saying its her fault because i think thats what you want- to try and anger people and im not biting. If you get your girlfriend pregnant and she decides to keep the baby one day you will be paying for the rest of your life.

    Let it be known i am NOT anti-abortion but i AM anti-carelessness.

    What are the risks of taking birth control?

    Women who are over 35 and smoke or who have any of the following conditions should not take The Pill:

    * History of heart attack or stroke

    * Blood clots

    * Unexplained vaginal bleeding

    * Known or suspected cancer

    * Known or suspected pregnancy

    * Liver disease

    Women who are under 35 and smoke, have migraines, gallbladder disease, hypertension, diabetes, epilepsy, sickle cell disease, elective surgery, a history of blood clots, liver or heart disease may not be able to take The Pill. Your clinician or doctor can decide.

    Women who use The Pill have a higher risk of heart attack and stroke. The effects of The Pill on breast cancer are still unknown. The Pill lowers a woman's chance of developing ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, and pelvic inflammatory disease.

    Side Effects

    As the body adjusts to hormonal changes created by The Pill, women often experience some minor side effects, including:

    * Irregular bleeding or spotting

    * Nausea

    * Breast tenderness

    * Weight gain and/or water retention

    * Spotty darkening of the skin

    * Mood changes

    Side effects usually disappear after 2-3 cycles. If your side effects are bothersome after 2-3 cycles or if heavy bleeding occurs, continue taking your pills and call the clinic for an appointment to talk about your prescription.

    Drug Interactions

    The effectiveness of the oral contraceptives are lowered when taken with certain medications, including antibiotics, anti-seizure, tuberculosis, and migraine medications. If you are taking any medications, tell your clinician. When taking medications that may interfere with The Pill, consider adding a backup method of birth control, like condoms and spermicide. As with all drugs, it is useful to inform all your medical providers if you are using hormonal birth control.What are the risks of taking birth control?
    My mums a nurse and she thinks the pill, in some cases, if you use it for a long period of time can cause cancer. I recommend condoms and regular pregnancy tests if you're worried! Jenny xWhat are the risks of taking birth control?
    Some risks include stroke, heart attack, blood clots, weight gain/loss, sometimes mood swings, and pregnancy can occur if you are not careful. There are other risks as well, but these are the main ones.
