Low risk birth control for blood clotting?

I had an incident with blood clotting in my legs that resulted in spending some time in the hospital. I had been on birthcontrol for about 5 years, since i was 16 for painful periods. Just recently it has been convienient for preventing a pregnancy also. I was told that I can no longer take hormonal birth control. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Are there any other options excluding condoms, spremicide, and natural planning?Low risk birth control for blood clotting?
Yes, the other options would be an alternative barrier method such as using a diaphagm or cervical cap if you don't like condoms, or having an IUD, or coil, implanted such as the copper coil as this does not contain hormones. If you make an appointment with you practise nurse they should be able to take you through the options and find one that suits.

You can also try other medications for painful periods such as anti-inflammatory painkillers. There is also some evidence that certain nutritional supplements such as omega 3 can help. As you are probably going to be taking warfarin though, you will need to check with your pharmacist/doctor before starting any supplement as many things interact with warfarin including alcohol, grapefruit and cranberry juice.
