Risk of pregnacy when first starting on ';birth control pill?';?

So my new girlfriend and I had sex yesterday afternoon. She said she is on the pill and has been for the past 2 weeks (roughly). What are the chances that if I ejaculated inside of her that she would get pregnant. No I don't know what kind of pill she is taking or as to how often she takes it? Does anyone know generally when birth control pills begin being affective and what my chances are of her being pregnant? She starts her cycle next week...Should I wait and find out if she is regular or should i make her take pregnacy test/morning after pill? Please help any opinions appreciatedRisk of pregnacy when first starting on ';birth control pill?';?
As with any birth control nothing is 100% so you still have to be careful regardless.Risk of pregnacy when first starting on ';birth control pill?';?
She really should have waited a month and you guys should have used back up until the pill is effective. She should call her doc before taking a morning after pill. Its too early for a pregnancy test. A pregnancy test while on the pill might not be accurate. Pregnancy oldds are probably still pretty low.
In order for birth control to take affect, she HAS to be on it for AT LEAST three months. Just because she's on birth control doesn't mean you can have unprotected sex right off. There's a very good chance she's pregnant.

Get her to a clinic and get blood work done. I don't trust pregnancy tests, they don't always work. Going to the doctor gives you a more secure feeling... doctor knows best.

good luck, next time.. don't be stupid!
If she is on the Pill, usually the packet recommends waiting one week after starting the Pill for the contraceptive effect to kick in.

But really - you should have asked this question *before* you had unprotected sex. What if we had all answered ';you need to wait one month';?

And if she is your ';new'; girlfriend, I would hope that you are both free of STDs because the Pill won't protect you from chlamydia, herpes, syphilis etc etc etc.

Take some responsibility for your sexual activity and make sure your girlfriend does likewise - because you really shouldn't be having kids...
it takes 6 weeks to get in your system. and even missing it for one day increases risk of getting pregnant. so you better make sure she stays on top of taking it (same time every day)

just use a condom you're better off that way because i've known plenty of people get pregnant on the pill.
My gynocologist told me it takes a whole month for it to be affective. but i would always use protection no matter what because i was on birth control for 3 years and was takin them regularly and got pregant. so be careful.
The doctor will recommend you use an alternative form of protection at least for the first month to be sure you're completely protected. If you were my bf and you 'made' me take the morning after pill, i'd say so long. You should wait...and next time use a condom. Only abstinence is 100% effective against pregnancy.
usually depends on the pill...some can take 7 days and others can take up to 30 days...but you should always use a back up plan....I was on the same birth control for five years and now im 39 weeks prego...be sure she does take her birth control on a regular basis and if she does miss a pill make sure to take it asap or if its the next day depending on the type of pill you can double up the next day....tell her to read the little info pack that comes with each new pack of pills...
I just started back on birth control and was wondering the same thing. I asked my doc and most pills these day are effective after the first 7 days, which is good news for you and I both. From what I understand there is a few brands that take 30 days. I take orthotricyclene lo and its a 7 dayer. Just find out the what kind of pill she on and don't sweat it too bad just yet. Good luck.
It takes a month for it to kick in so she could be. You can take the morning after pill up to 72 hrs after sex. If you take a pregnancy test now it would just show up negetive because it is way too soon. Have to wait 2 weeks after missed period for results.

This shows you that you should always use a condom!!!
If you arent sure, and if birth control is new to her, go get the morning after pill just to be safe. Planned parenthood for sure. and yes her birth control pills take 2 weeks to kick in.

I suggest that she uses the Nuva Ring instead of pills because pills need to be remembered every single day and thats stressful. the Nuva Ring is a flexable ring that is inserted into the vagina and left in for 3 weeks and then she goes without the ring for a week to have a period. you can have sex during the fourth week without the ring during her period and she is still protected against pregnancy. If you have sex while the ring is in during the weeks she is not on her period, you can either leave it in during sex, or if it bothers you or her, it can be left out for up to but no longer than 3 hours while you have sex.

It's SOOO much easier than remembering the pill!

PS: Just like a tampon, when inserted correctly she wont feel the ring inside her, she wont even have to 'get used to it' she wont feel it at all.
