What are the risks in taking birth control while pregnant?

Can birth control pills affect an unborn fetus??? What are the risks?

My bc is orthotricyclin lo...missed a period last month..negative tests (3)..what are the risks to the baby if i am pregnant?What are the risks in taking birth control while pregnant?
This is what the Mayo Clinic says:

';If you continued taking your birth control pill because you didn't realize you were pregnant, don't be alarmed. Despite years of this accident happening, there's very little evidence that exposure to the hormones in birth control pills causes birth defects.

Still, the birth control pill is a potent estrogen. Lessons learned from women who took diethylstilbestrol 鈥?a synthetic estrogen that was later linked with cancer 鈥?to prevent miscarriage in early pregnancy suggest that such exposure should be minimized.

Once you learn that you're pregnant, stop taking the birth control pill.';

They also say that pregnancy tests are accurate even when taking the pill.

You should go and see an ob/gyn right away. They have sensitive tests and can also do a blood test.

That being said, you can miss a period on the pill without being pregnant for lots of reasons. Seeing a doctor can help and your doctor should be notified anyway if your periods are irregular while on the pill.

Best of luck!What are the risks in taking birth control while pregnant?
Stop taking birth control if ytou think you are pregnant! I don't know what the risks are but it can't be good!
I don't think your pregnant, sounds like your system is just off cycle
Well, if you're taking birth control.. even if you don't take the last row (the one that prevents you from having your period) it is still possible to miss a period because your body can still be adjusting to your bc. That's also why you switch up your bc every year or so to prevent your body from becomming immune to it. Anywho.. if you ARE pregnant (even though the tests came out negative) I would consult a doctor first to make sure. Because if you are taking bc while pregnant, that could lead to a miscarriage.
