What are some of the risks of being on birth control?

Are the chances of getting breast cancer increased? What are some of the risks of being on birth control?
First answer NO! breast cancer is not a higher risk factor.

But having said that before taking up the contraceptive you need to discuss a family history of illness and diseases.

The biggest risk is DVT deep vein thrombosis or clots that can give rise to stroke or heart attack. Whilst these are rare they are part of the risk. That is why the pill for you needs to fit your physical health and medical history. Also ask about the Implant option for contaceptionWhat are some of the risks of being on birth control?
You need to talk to your doctor. They will explain all the risks.

I am more scared about the other diseases that are out there. I work at a doctors surgery and I am absolutely horrified by how common sexually transmitted diseases are. I knew they were out there but nearly every single young person coming through our doors has something. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE everyone use condoms.
i am way to young to answer this.:( but i heard that they arent good for you.
If you look on a few birth control web site, they list the risks. I'd try to tell you what they are but there are actually quite a few. They are VERY rare though!
no not at all :)
The only serious side effect is an increased risk of blood clots, which is mainly in women who smoke. Still, very few women get blood clots even if they smoke and are on the pill, and out of those, very few are life threatening. There was some speculation that the pill could increase the risk of breast cancer, but now the evidence suggests there is not a correlation.
