No, so keep your pants on, or practice natural family planning.

There really is an extremely low risk of side effects from birth control unless you have medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, blood clots, are overweight, etc.

What birth control pill is best for you, is mostly trial and error but I would advise staying away from any of the new and untested pills, like YAZ .... they are finding out a lot of negatives to them right now.

I'm personally in nursing school so familiar with drug warnings, and have been on ortho cyclene or a number of years....statistically that is the pill with the lowest rate of problems. This is not to be confued with ortho tri-cyclene or ortho tri cyclene low. Ortho cyclene has the same rate of hormones throughout the month, as opossed to the other two and is just all around the safest, and that's what I would reccomend to you.

Good luck!

Birth control pills are a bargain, vis a vis the carrying of a pregnancy.

More women die, stroke out, have lower back problems, leg blood clots, etc. in numbers far greater than those of us who are on or were on the pill. Being pregnant to term is dangerous, relatively speaking.

You can use non-hormonal birth control... condoms and foams, IUDs, diaphragms and gels, and if you are sure you wish out of the baby business, a laproscopic tubal ligation is a piece of cake, and permanent, and about as secure a bc method as is any.
If you aren't ready for children yet then I would talk to your doctor about a birth control that fits you. My friend had the IUD for 5 years and she never felt it and it worked. It minimizes your monthly period and rarely makes you cramp. Im sure all people are different though. Good luck with whatever you decide!
Go talk to your doctor about your options. They will be the best equipped to let you know what is available to you, and what the risks are to you, and you can then make your decision.
