Low risk birth control for blood clotting?

I had an incident with blood clotting in my legs that resulted in spending some time in the hospital. I had been on birthcontrol for about 5 years, since i was 16 for painful periods. Just recently it has been convienient for preventing a pregnancy also. I was told that I can no longer take hormonal birth control. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Are there any other options excluding condoms, spremicide, and natural planning?Low risk birth control for blood clotting?
