I know that the pills and patches all have risks of blood clots, but do the other options out there also risk blood clots? what are they?Is there a type of birth control out there with no risk of blood clots?
The NuvaRing is the best birth control out there used by many many women. My ob/gyn was even using it. It has the lowest hormone count out of all birth control and very little side effects, which i noticed none. it is very easy to use, simple, and safe. the only chance of getting blood clots due to birth control is if u are smoking while taking them,on other meds or a history of health problems. otherwise the nuvaring is the best choice for you..Is there a type of birth control out there with no risk of blood clots?
abstinence
yes. you can keep your legs crossed.
Screaming kids on planes, in malls, wherever do it for me. No way in hell I want that to happen to me.
Progesterone only pills aka 'mini pills', depo-provera shot, copper iud's, sterilisation, condoms, female condoms and so on.
Estrogen is what causes the risk of blood clots so any contraception that does not contain estrogen should be okay. Talk to your doctor.
I am 34 and had a TIA ... mini-stroke from the use of the pill. The doctors immediately pulled me off of the pill and I have since used the rhythm method and the condom (while ovulating) with my husband. If you have had children, you could get an IUD.
Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend the pill to anyone that is over 30 ... it was the scariest experience of my life! Women do not think ';this will happen to me'; ... it can ... the risks outweigh the benefits.
Yes all forms of birth controls that use hormones risk blood clots...except condoms, sponges, diaphragms..etc.
