the warnings that come with birth control pills indicate that smoking increases the risk of cardiovascular side-effects. i would like to know why this is and if this risk is present if the consumer is simply in the vicinity of the smoker and is only receiving a small amount of second-hand smoke. Also does this risk only apply to cigarette smokers, or does smoking something lighter such as hookah still increase this risk? Why does smoking increase the risk of stroke while on birth control pills?
Nicotine thickens the blood increasing the risk of a blood clot. BC pills are hormones that can increase clotting as well. It's called synergistic risk. Why does smoking increase the risk of stroke while on birth control pills?
Birth Control Pill in themselves, are a health hazard.
They are synthetic (not biologically matched) hormones
now most people dont know what hormones actually
are they think that they are some mystical thing
that makes you horny and give you your period.
Partly true but not fully. See hormones are
chemicals that control your body, every single
organ in your body responds to and is controlled
by certain hormones. In fact they work very much
like your nervous system, they send signals to your
organs and cells to function.
Just imagine for a moment if the nerve to your
leg stopped working, you probably wouldnt
be able use it. It is the same with hormones
once they stop working it all goes to hell.
So thus when you start pumping fake hormones
into your body that your body does not microbioloicaly
recognize your body starts malfunctioning. See all
chemicals cause physiological reactions in our bodies
whether they be nutrients or poisons. Birth Control
Pills are poison, they force your body into an unnatural
physiological state by shutting down your reproductive
system, unfortunately by doing this it effects your whole
body. And many women find themselves sterile after
years of birth control usage. If that is not an issue for
you you may want to consider the increased risk
of heart attack and stroke amoung other numerous
problems. It is poison and your body recognizes
it as poison, just like any Pharmacuetical.
In fact when they did the first experiments with
birth control, 15 women died and they never investigated
why. Also opposed to the belief that it decreases your risk
of cancer it actually increases it amoung many other
diseases that are increased with the use of Birth Control
So if you end up with some permanent problem because
of this you can only blame yourself because you forced
your body to process a toxic substance that puposely
caused your reproductive organs to fail.
And that is the naked truth about birth control.
BTW: Smoking will probably quadruple your risk
for all these diseases, good luck : )
birth control pills leads by its own to a hypercoagulative state which means increased ability to form microthrombi ,, while smoking leads to atherosclerosis which lead to roughness of the wall of the blood vessels . so both together increases the risk of stroke and DVT ( deep venous thrombosis )
Basically, birth control pills make it easier for the blood to clot. Blood clots (thrombi) can cause cardiovascular problems, such as heart attacks, strokes, and deep vein thrombosis.
Since smoking also increases the risk of cardiovascular problems, you have a much greater risk of these problems when you smoke and are on birth control.
I would avoid all smoke, including secondhand smoke and other products that are smoked.
Smoking and birth control pills(OCPs) both are risk factors for not only stroke but also other cardiovascular diseases e.g.heart attack. A woman who is taking OCPs is at higher risk of having stroke even if she is nonsmoker. Same is the case with smoking. Smoker man or woman is at higher risk of having stroke. This is because smoking contributes to atherosclerosis(deposition of fat in arteries) and narrowing of arteries. Birth control pills enhance blood clotting and when two are combined i.e. birth control pills and smoking, the risk of stroke and other cardiovascular diseases is incresed many times. The risk will depend upon many factors e.g. No. of Cigrates smoked per day(more the No. higher the risk),depth of inhalation, duration of smoking to name a few. Passive smoking (second hand smoking)will also increase the risk of stroke which will depend upon above mentioned factors in relation smoking.
